The members of Kappa Kappa Gamma celebrate our 10th anniversary at the University of San Diego with a birthday party
On October 13, 1870, six women of Monmouth College marched into the chapel service with golden keys in their hair announcing the foundation of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Their names were Mary Moore "Minnie" Stewart, Anna Elizabeth Willits, Susan Burley Walker, Hanna Jeanette "Jennie" Boyd, Mary Louise "Lou" Bennet, and Martha Louisa "Lou" Stevenson.
Today Kappa Kappa Gamma is one of the oldest women’s fraternities. It is a fraternity because the term sorority was not used when Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded. There are currently 134 chapters and over 220,000 initiated members in the United States and Canada.
